Dog Thrown Into Florida Lake to Drown Gets a New Lease on Life

A Florida dog who was thrown into a lake to drown has finally found a new loving home. Gator, an English Mastiff, is melting hearts on social media as the pup’s new update shows him thriving with his new family and living the life he deserves.

The Mastiff Rescue of Florida took to their Facebook page to share the news about Gator. The non-profit organization noted the Mastiff was rescued by a Good Samaritan after getting thrown into a lake to drown. The MRF picked Gator up from the shelter and rushed him to the ER because he had pneumonia. “Fortunately, all our supporters helped Gator pull through with their donations,” the organization shared.

Now, Gator has moved in with the MRF’s Special Needs foster, Travis, who recently lost his pup, Nora Ann. The organization penned, “We all think Nora Ann had lots to do with directing Gator’s way to Travis.” The MRF further shared that the two bonded quickly — “it was like they had been together.”

The Mastiff Rescue of Florida also noted that Gator is “heartworm positive” and he will be getting treated with the slowkill program. Moreover, the canine will not be neutered for another month. The organization wrote, “He went through hell and we want his immune system built up and healthy!”

After moving into Travis’ home, Gator settled in “like he belonged there.” The pup also became friends with the other dog. Gator has started playing and is loving the comfy dog beds. He is also enjoying “all the good food” and “lounging by the pool.” The MRF concluded the post by writing, “Gator has the life he deserves,”

The Facebook post also includes a bunch of photos of the English Mastiff loving his new home. In one of the snaps, Gator is cuddled up next to Travis. Meanwhile, another picture shows the pup taking a nap next to his new friend.
