A dog owner in Fiddington, United Kingdom, is over the moon after his rescue dog qualified to showcase his outstanding agility skills at the upcoming Crufts Dog Show 2024.
Organized by the Kennel Club, Crufts is recognized as the U.K.’s greatest, must-attend dog shows. The annual event features various competitive categories, including agility trials, flyball, obedience, and many others. Moreover, thousands of dogs from different breed groups compete for the coveted “best in breed” honors.
Rescue dog buddy to show off his agility skills at Crufts 2024
Seb Thomas looks forward to seeing his rescue dog, Buddy, take center stage at the Crufts 2024. Thomas considers this opportunity a dream come true, considering how far they’ve come with the rescue pup.
According to Bridgwater Mercury News, Thomas adopted Buddy from a local rescue charity. Unfortunately, his previous owners had given him up when he was just 11 months old.
“Seb saw Buddy advertised for adoption on social media and was quick to give him a new home,” Thomas’s partner, Vickie Gould, shared.
Thomas runs a local agility club, owing to his keen interest and passion for equipping dogs with agility skills.
Thankfully, through his agility club, the Fiddington resident was able to hone Buddy’s agility skills.
“Seb has trained Buddy from a complete beginner in agility,” Gould shared. “Despite him missing out on competitions in his first years due to the pandemic, after a wild start to his agility career with many eliminations runs, he managed to progress up the grades last summer.”
She added that “out of thousands of dogs across the whole of the U.K., Buddy managed to make the top six to make it to the famous green carpet Crafts.”
The 4-day event will begin on March 7 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.
