Rescue Dog Had No Adoption Interests, but Now Gets a Family to Cuddle With

You might assume that a friendly, affectionate dog would have no trouble finding a home. Yet many shelter pets spend weeks waiting for adopters despite having all the qualities families look for in a companion. Sometimes, all they need is someone to help bring those qualities to light. A recent video documents that journey for a rescue dog named Dandelion, who went from having no adoption interest to finding a family of her own.

Dandelion, affectionately known as Dandy, first appeared on the Instagram account @4evertails, run by Scott Corbett, who works with shelters across Chicago and regularly fosters dogs in need. Viewers were introduced to Dandy in an earlier video after Corbett expressed interest in fostering again. Shelter staff then introduced him to the pup, who at the time had no adoption inquiries despite being available for a home.

According to the caption of the previous video, Dandelion had been found wandering the streets of Chicago before ending up at animal control. She was reportedly underweight and sick when she arrived. After being transferred to a shelter, she continued waiting for someone willing to give her a chance.

Corbett decided to become that person, bringing Dandy into his home as a foster dog. The change in her demeanor was noticeable almost immediately. Videos documented her wagging tail, playful attitude, and growing affection for her foster dad.

In a recent update, however, Corbett revealed that his time with Dandy might be coming to an end. Filming what he believed could be his last day fostering her, he reflected on how far she had come in a short period.

He explained that only a couple of weeks earlier, Dandy had been scared and nervous while sitting in a crate at animal control. Now, she was preparing to meet a family interested in adopting her. “Now she’s going to find her future family,” Corbett said in the video.

He also described Dandy as an “incredible dog” and called her the “best cuddle buddy” anyone could ask for. According to Corbett, the dog had become much more confident since leaving the shelter.

The video then follows the pair as they head to the adoption center. There, Dandy meets her new family, who are seen taking photos with their newest companion. Several sweet interactions unfold as they spend time together, and the connection appears immediate. By the end of the clip, it is clear that Dandy has found the people she was waiting for.
