Emotional Support Dog Stolen From Boston Mall

A thief stole an emotional support dog from a shopping center in Boston last week. Authorities are still looking for the thief and the pup.

Thief steals emotional support dog from store

According to Boston 25 News, the victim’s emotional support dog, Princess, was swiped from the Washington Park Mall in Roxbury. When police arrived at the Marshalls store in the shopping center, the grandmother of the victim told the officers what happened. Apparently, the woman, her grandson, and Princess were shopping in the men’s section around 10:45 a.m. At around 11 a.m., they realized the dog was gone.

Unfortunately, Princess did not have a microchip, leash, or collar. It is unclear if they were carrying the dog or walking around the store with an off-leash dog.

According to security footage, the woman and her grandson were looking for Princess at one of the entrances of Marshalls around 11:03 a.m. At 11:24 a.m., the suspect allegedly left the store with the dog. The news outlet describes the suspect as “a light-skinned Black or Hispanic man wearing a black sheisty mask, black hoodie or jacket, black pants, and black and white sneakers carrying a large grey Snipes bag.”

The man fled the scene on a blue motor scooter at 11:26 a.m. He left on Warren Street en route to Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Anyone with information about the dog theft should contact District B-2 Detectives at (617) 343-4275.

The importance of emotional support dogs

Emotional support dogs play a crucial role in the lives of those who rely on them for emotional well-being. These loyal companions offer solace and comfort to individuals struggling with mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The unconditional love and companionship they provide can alleviate stress and loneliness. Their presence helps their humans cope with life’s ups and downs.

When an emotional support dog is stolen, it’s not just a theft of property; it’s a theft of a lifeline. The loss is emotionally devastating, disrupting the delicate balance that these dogs help maintain. They are not just pets; they are vital sources of stability and emotional healing.
