What Happened to Queen Elizabeth’s Corgi Dogs?

Many are wondering what happened to Queen Elizabeth’s dogs, specifically her corgis Muick and Sandy. The queen passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96, and the monarch’s love for dogs is well known, so many want to make sure that the corgis are well taken of by the royal family. Here’s the latest update on Muick and Sandy, and where the pups are now.

Where are Queen Elizabeth’s corgis Muick & Sandy now?

Queen Elizabeth’s dogs Muick and Sandy are under the care of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, with the duchess providing regular updates of the corgis.

In an Instagram post on December 24, 2024, Sarah Ferguson shared a video of her walking in an open field as both corgis happily explore the grass. The duchess gave one of the dogs a few pets while the other put its nose in a hole in the ground.

Earlier that year on August 26, which is International Dogs Day, she also shared an adorable photo of her with the corgis “for all the unconditional love, loyalty, and joy they bring into our lives.” On that special day, Ferguson said that both dogs would be “getting an extra treat.”

In 2023, she revealed in an interview with Hello that she “spoils” the pups and said that they were “very nice, very polite, and well-trained.”

It makes sense that Sandy and Muick were rehomed with Prince Andrew and his ex-wife (they divorced in 1997 but they still live together), as they and their daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, originally gifted the puppies to the queen in 2021. According to a source who knows Prince Andrew, per PEOPLE, the corgis would be living with the couple “at Royal Lodge” and that “it was the Duchess who found the puppies, which were gifted to Her Majesty by the Duke.”

Between 1933 and 2018, Queen Elizabeth II owned over 30 corgis, which is why the breed has become synonymous with her.

King Charles and Queen Camilla have also adopted two new dogs, Snuff and Moley.
