Pop star, newsmaker, and rescue dog lover Miley Cyrus is having a tough week after the sudden passing of one of her dogs. Floyd, Cyrus’s Alaskan Klee Kai, has died.
Cyrus shared her tragic news with her fans on Twitter Tuesday.
“Today is the 2nd worst day of my life,” Cyrus tweeted April 1.
“I don’t wanna say it because I don’t want it to be real… But my precious baby Floyd has passed away,” she added in a subsequent tweet. “I am broken.”
Cyrus first brought Floyd home in July 2011, when Floyd was just a puppy. The “Wrecking Ball” singer fell for the pooch immediately.
“I’m so in love with him it is ridiculous,” an 18-year-old Cyrus tweeted, introducing Floyd to her fans.
“I wake up and this is the 1st thing I see… I can’t think of anything better,” she wrote later, posting a photo of Floyd cuddled up and sleeping.
Though she is clearly grieving, Cyrus decided that her Bangerztour must go on.

“I’m sorry in advance if I am not myself tomorrow in Boston,” Cyrus warned Beantown fans. “I will try my best to be my best.”
Cyrus took the stage that night and gave a very emotional rendition of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Landslide,” which she told the crowd was the late Floyd’s favorite song.
“It’s gonna be hard for me to sing this next song,” Cyrus explained through her tears. “I’m not sounding myself, I don’t feel myself.”
Cyrus made it through “Landslide,” but the Huffington Post reports that the performer broke down when a giant inflatable likeness of Floyd himself joined her onstage during the opening of her song “Can’t Be Tamed.” Cyrus cried while clutching inflatable Floyd’s leg, one of her entourage joining her onstage for comfort.
“She held it together, but talked about it three or four times,” one concertgoer tells People. “You could see tears.”
Cyrus continues her popular concert tour April 5 at New York City’s Barclays Center. But for now, it looks like she’s relying on another of her four-legged posse — adopted dog Mary Jane — for comfort.
Cyrus has three other dogs — Happy, Mary Jane, and Ziggy.
