Rescue Dog Left Heartbroken by the Only Family He Loved, Finds Kindness From Strangers

Mylo endured years chained in the backyard, and yet, the first thing he does when he sees rescuers is wag his tail. It’s an unexpected sight, especially when the rescue dog is still standing where his family left him as kind strangers walk over to meet him for the very first time. Shared by @wildkinddogrescue, the video introduces a dog who had every reason to stop trusting people, yet still greeted those who came to help with nothing but a grateful smile.

The video opens with Mylo standing beside his outdoor kennel, still attached to the chain where he’d been left behind. Across the screen, the heartbreaking words from his previous owners read, “Leave him on the chain to die.”

Even then, Mylo’s tail keeps wagging, though he looks a little unsure about what’s happening around him.

Another message follows, this time sharing his former owners’ decision: “We don’t want him anymore, take him to the k**l shelter.” Mylo sits politely for the camera with bowls of food and water nearby, but he seems far more interested in the people standing in front of him than anything else.

When he gets to his feet, one of the rescue volunteers reaches over to pat his head. His chain only lets him move so far, but that doesn’t stop him from leaning in for affection.

Another volunteer joins in, and the on-screen text simply says, “Absolutely not,” making it clear Mylo wasn’t going anywhere except somewhere safe.

One particularly sweet photo shows him offering a paw as if he’d already decided these were people worth trusting. The next stop is the veterinary clinic, where Mylo patiently stands on the examination table while happily looking around for attention.

Soon after, another clip shows him riding in the back of a car, leaving his old life behind as he heads toward the rescue.

In a follow-up Instagram Story, the rescue shared another encouraging update. Mylo is learning to enjoy walks again after gaining more weight from spending so much time on the chain.

They said he’s otherwise healthy, happy, and settling into his new routine. The video has already drawn nearly 1,000 likes, with countless people hoping Mylo’s next chapter is nothing like his last.
