Shelter Dog Watches Everybody Go Home, Then Gives up on Being Noticed & Spends His Days Like This

Kobe has been at Palm Beach Animal Care & Control for more than 120 days, and the change in him is hard to miss. The shelter dog, described as affectionate, house-trained, and good with dogs and kids, sits quietly on his elevated bed, looking past the camera instead of trying to get someone’s attention. In the video shared by @shelterdogstails, Kobe barely reacts as the volunteer approaches his kennel. He lifts his nose, looks away, and eventually curls up to sleep. After watching other dogs leave, he seems to have stopped expecting that someone will come for him.

When the video starts, we see Kobe lying on his raised bed inside the kennel. He looks toward the person filming, but there is no excited tail wag or attempt to get closer. Instead, he looks away. He is only 4 years old and weighs 72 pounds. His profile says he walks beautifully on a leash, loves belly rubs, and is very affectionate with people. He is also listed as good with dogs, good with kids, and house-trained. But none of that seems to matter to him in this moment.

One commenter pointed out that it can be easy to walk past a quiet dog in a shelter without realizing what a wonderful companion they might be. Another simply asked someone to save Kobe and give him a foster or forever home.
