Rescue Dog Nods When Mom Asks if He’s Happy With New Toy, Then Does Something Incredibly Sweet

Bruce already has a toy in his mouth when Mom comes through the door, so the new one waiting for him is clearly going to get a proper welcome. The senior rescue dog races over when he hears a squeak, then sits through all the excitement while mom holds out a brand-new Lamb Chop toy.

The video from @seniorboybruce shows why his family keeps adding to his collection: he gets this excited every single time, and he still treats each new toy like it is something very special.

Rescue dog doesn’t destroy the toys he gets, but is always extra careful and gentle with them

When the Instagram video starts, Bruce comes over to greet Mom at the door with a toy already tucked in his mouth. Then he walks away. She tells him she has a surprise, and the second she squeaks the new Lamb Chop, the Golden Retriever comes running back. His tail is wagging, his body is practically bouncing, and he tries to take the toy straight from her hand.

Mom asks him to sit, and somehow Bruce manages to hold the position even as his front paws slip a little on the floor. Then he gets it. Bruce carries the new Lamb Chop over to the carpet, hops onto the couch and sits there proudly with his latest addition. Mom keeps chatting to him, and he responds by holding the toy, tossing his head around and giving her the sweetest little tail wag as thanks.

There is a cat on the couch too, likely wondering what the commotion is about. The family says Lamb Chops are Bruce’s favorite, and he already has close to 50 of them. Better yet, he has never destroyed a single toy in nearly two years with his adopted family. He does remove the tags, though, and apparently spits those straight out.

That gentleness means even more, knowing Bruce spent years in a puppy mill without toys or the simple comforts he now gets to enjoy. The video has earned more than 5,000 likes in less than 24 hours, with commenters cheering on the rescue dog’s toy collection. One person said he deserves “the world and more,” while another said that there can never be too many Lamb Chops.
