The heartbreaking part is that this isn’t a burst of excitement. According to the volunteer’s caption, this has become Ben’s daily routine after more than 300 days in the shelter system. When he first arrived, he was severely underweight and emaciated. While staff and volunteers do everything they can with walks, enrichment activities, and dog playgroups, the stress of kennel life continues to weigh heavily on him. His anxious jumping has even left him with cuts from time to time.
