Take one look at Loba, and it’s hard not to notice how quietly she sits in her kennel. The 3-year-old Siberian Husky is the focus of an urgent adoption plea after volunteers shared a video they say shows the emotional impact of shelter life on her. They hope her story will reach someone willing to give her the fresh start she needs.
Husky confined in shelter desperately waits for someone to notice her
The video, shared by the Instagram account @hope4miamipaws, shows Loba sitting quietly in her enclosure at Miami-Dade Animal Services. In front of her is a full food bowl, but the Husky appears withdrawn and uninterested in eating. Text displayed over the video, written from Loba’s perspective, reads, “I’m not eating. This kennel is breaking me.”
The post explains that Huskies are not a breed that typically thrives in confinement. Bred for endurance and known for their intelligence and high energy, they require regular exercise, mental stimulation, and plenty of interaction. According to the video’s onscreen message, the kennel environment is particularly hard on dogs like Loba, who need space, activity, and affection to flourish.
Later in the clip, Loba is taken outside to spend time away from her kennel, giving her a chance to enjoy some fresh air. However, volunteers say another moment in the video raised concern. As she walks back through the shelter past neighboring kennels, she barely acknowledges the other dogs around her. The lack of interest, they note, may reflect the emotional impact that prolonged confinement is having on her.
The caption accompanying the post describes Loba’s situation as urgent, saying she “needs out.” Volunteers are encouraging anyone able to foster, adopt, or rescue her to come forward before she spends even longer in the shelter.
Despite the concerns raised in the video, volunteers say Loba has many qualities that would make her a wonderful companion. She is potty trained, affectionate with people, and friendly with other dogs. Like many Huskies, she also “loves to sing.”
The post identifies Loba as a spayed, black-and-white Siberian Husky who arrived at Miami-Dade Animal Services in January this year. Listed under identification number A2774883, she is currently available for adoption through the shelter.
