Finding a best friend at a shelter is a life-changing moment, and Veronica Shenton (@veronica_amber_peace) recently shared a very sweet update about Pixel, her forever travel buddy. This sweet rescue dog was clearly just waiting for someone to notice her wagging tail. According to her bio, Veronica lives a simple off-grid life in a van across North America. Adding a pup to that adventure was a huge move. Seeing Pixel go from a kennel to mountain hikes is pure magic. It is honestly hard not to smile when you watch her.
Rescue dog finds the love she wanted with mom and dad after adoption
The clip starts right at the shelter where Veronica holds her new girl close while they step outside together. Since Pixel is a rescue dog, the love bug quickly gets cozy in her new car seat for her first drive after adoption. Her dad gives her gentle head pats while she starts to drift off in her comfy surroundings.
Once they’ve halted, he even rubs his nose on her belly while she looks up at him adoringly. Mom laughs behind the camera because the scene is just so goofy. It is very clear that the love in this tiny living space is already overflowing. Pixel even gets to try her very first pup cup that she devours. After she finishes her treat, the family hits the road with dad behind the wheel.
Pixel spends most of the drive staring out the window with her tail wagging furiously at the passing scenery. She looks incredibly peaceful while relaxing in the back during their long hauls across the country. Sometimes her legs get tired on big hikes, and so she just hitches a ride in mom’s lap.
Later on, she ends up falling fast asleep in dad’s arms after a long day of exploring outdoors. There is even a funny shot of her standing at the van window with her ears pulled back. She smacks her lips until dad brings his hand close for a quick head pat.
She even joins dad for a bike ride while sitting in a special backpack. Veronica says rescuing her was one of the most rewarding things she has ever done. She cannot imagine her off-grid life without this little soul by her side now.
