There is nothing more heart-wrenching than a rescue dog who stops in her tracks, not wanting to go back to her kennel. But that is exactly what we see in this video. Lola is a five-year-old Rottweiler waiting at @lancasteranimalslaco for a family. The clip shows her spending her afternoon getting hugs and wearing a tiny yellow hat. But everything changes when she reaches the entrance of the kennels. It’s just so sad to see her realize that her time in the sun is over. Lola needs a home today, and she deserves a soft bed and a permanent family.
Video shows rescue dog up for adoption stops at the kennel door after outing
The video opens with Lola inside her kennel, already alert, already waiting. She spins once, lets out a bark, clearly ready to go out. She is such a sweet and wiggly girl. And even though she is alone, she still keeps a big smile on her face. The staff says she is super affectionate who just wants to connect with people.
Once she is out of her kennel, she greets other pups kindly through the fence. She is just a gentle giant looking for a bit of luck. Later, when she is outdoors, we see that the volunteers had decided to dress her up in a cute yellow costume and a matching hat. She looks like a complete doll.
The video shows her spending the day walking on a leash and showing off her skills. Lola already knows how to sit and stay on command. She follows her human friends as if she has belonged to them for years. This rescue dog is clearly ready for a backyard of her own. But for now, it’s heartwarming to see her getting pats from other rescue workers and soaking up the California sun.
And then comes the heartbreaking part of the video. The second they start walking back toward the building, Lola’s heart sinks. She knows exactly what that door means and so stops walking and takes a few steps backward. You can tell she was begging to stay outside a little longer.
This video of her refusal is honestly hard to watch. She belongs in a living room instead of a kennel. Over 1,500 people have already liked the post in hopes of finding her a family. She is still waiting for her freedom walk, which we hope happens sooner rather than later.
