Injured Rescue Dog Undergoes Surgery, Recovers & Regains His Spirit

Meeting a familiar face on the daily feeding route is usually the best part of the morning for rescue workers at @wearehappydoggo. Mr. Boxhead is a local dog whom everyone knows and loves. However, he recently showed up looking pretty rough after a run-in with a vehicle. This sweet rescue dog was likely dragged under a car. It is a miracle he is still standing. But street dogs are famously tough and incredibly forgiving, who just want to keep moving forward. Thankfully, he got the care he needed, and he is finally safe.

Video shows rescue dog recovering from injuries and not losing his spirit

The video starts with a worker filming from a bike. Mr. Boxhead spots his friends and immediately comes trotting over. It’s a wonder he still has an appetite, even with those visible injuries. The team spots his mangled tail and facial wounds, and they just know they have to get him to the shelter.

He trusts his friends enough to let them put a leash on, and then he is loaded into the car without any fuss. It seems like he knows help is finally here, and he is ready to feel better. At the shelter, the surgery goes well, even though he loses half of his tail. He sits on the examination table with a cone around his neck as medical professionals work around him.

It clearly hurts to be poked and prodded by the vet, but he doesn’t let that dampen his mood for long. Interestingly, he has more energy now than he did before. He is back on his feet and acting like himself again, and we see him jump around the yard with total excitement. This rescue dog is basically a ball of energy now and is truly thriving, as we see in the video.

The worker gives him massive belly rubs on the grass. He rolls over with pure joy and a big smile. It’s such a relief to see his face free of those nasty wounds. One viewer noted that he knew he was getting what he needed. Another person said his new life starts right now. The in-video text concludes it in the most beautiful way, “Mr Boxhead reminds us of a simple truth…It’s not about what you’ve lost. It’s about how you keep moving forward.”
