Shelter Dog Desperately Wants Out of Crate, Yearning for a Home Where He Can Finally Be Free

John has spent his entire life waiting for something he has never experienced: a home of his own. A touching Instagram video shows the yellow Labrador anxiously pawing at the door of a transport crate while looking out with hopeful eyes. The rescue behind the video explained that John isn’t trying to escape because he’s aggressive or destructive. He longs to be near people after a lifetime without the comfort of a family.

The emotional clip has sparked an outpouring of support from animal lovers, many hoping someone will give the sweet Lab the forever home he has always deserved. According to the rescue, John’s difficult journey began in a backyard breeding kennel.

He spent his entire life without ever living inside a home. The organization explained that because of his background, they assume he has never been potty-trained or house-trained.

The video shows John pushing against the crate door as text on the screen reads, “John wants to know if maybe you’d like to adopt and love him forever.” The rescue later clarified that the crate shown in the video was only used while transporting him.

According to the Instagram post by @rescuewithme, the organization urged anyone with the time, patience, and resources to consider adopting. John is currently available for adoption through Saving Sage Animal Rescue in Broward, Florida.

Once John arrived at the rescue, staff placed him in a kennel rather than the travel crate. Even there, they said, he continues trying to break out, not because he wants to flee, but because he craves human companionship.

The rescue described him as a true “Velcro” yellow Labrador who constantly seeks attention and affection. “He loves the high school kids who take care of him and would do anything for them,” the caption explained.
