Video: Golden Retriever Sits Right on Top of Owner’s Plant

Gardening is supposed to be relaxing until your massive dog decides a flower bed is actually the perfect spot to sit. Reef is usually the chillest “mush king” in Clearwater, Florida. But a new post from @reefthegolden_ proves he’s currently in a very stubborn teenage phase. The Golden Retriever’s owner, Grace, walked outside in the video only to find him parked right in a plant bed. And not just anywhere. He was sitting directly on a plant she had recently put in. It’s hilarious because he just stares at her and acts like he has no idea what she’s talking about.

Owner shares Golden Retriever’s ‘naughty teenage moments’ in cute video

Grace keeps telling Reed to get off, but he just stands his ground. Then she shows us this specific garden ornament or stake that he is really interested in. That is the real reason he is sitting on the plant, with his “big butt” crushing the poor greenery. He even looks at her with a total “what plant?” expression. Mom asks him to move again, and he does that grudgingly only to reveal a crushed plant.

Mom is sad about her “poor plant” and Reef is sad about being the “poor puppy” who just wants that garden ornament. He just yawns in her face. One commenter even joked that out of all the places he could’ve sat, he chose the one living thing in the dirt.

Grace eventually tries the ultimate parent trick. She does the fake “who’s here?” voice to get him to move. Surprisingly, Reef stays strong. He is soaking wet and blinks at her, showing he didn’t fall for the alert. He just sat there for 15 minutes waiting for her. Another viewer pointed out his impressive focus in the video; Reef knew it was a fake-out.

He even rests his face on the grass while still half in the bed. Mom calls it a huge tantrum, but it is also extremely cute. In the end, the owner had to admit defeat. The final shot of the video shows the Golden Retriever finally settling down on the grass, the owner’s plant forgotten. And he has his prize, the garden stake right in his mouth. He basically won the battle of wills.

People in the comments are calling him “the plant” now and saying Grace should just keep watering him. Others are calling it the “big golden booty gap” where plants used to be. It’s just classic teenage behavior.
