Dog Puts on a Sad Act To Try To Score Some Dinner From Owners

You’d think dinner in a regular Boston home would be pretty uneventful. Just people eating with no theatrics. That is, unless your dog has decided dinner time is his moment to shine. If there were awards for guilt-tripping, Wally from @wally.meets.world would already have a shelf full.

In the video his mom shared, Wally sits completely still with his chin tucked. He actually looks like he’s carrying the weight of the world on his furry shoulders. The Golden Retriever is not actually upset, of course. He’s just hoping his dramatic flair will earn him a piece of whatever his parents are eating. According to his mom, this performance “works 10/10 times.”

In the clip, Wally is positioned right at his dad’s feet, staring intensely at the carpet as if in mourning. His eyes are shut tight in mock disbelief that a meal is being consumed without his participation. Anyone who’s lived with a Golden Retriever knows this energy: deeply attached, deeply expressive, and deeply invested in dinner.

Then he breaks character and cracks his eyes open. He slowly looks up at his mom, who’s filming. A quick glance shifts toward his dad. When he realizes the dinner plates aren’t moving his way, he pushes his ears back and doubles down on the grief.

This isn’t the first time Wally has gone viral for his big feelings. He previously made headlines for having a “tough week” simply because a swimming session ended or because his dad had to head to work. With Wally, every emotion shows — no subtlety required. With over 183,000 likes, fans are calling his tragic hero performance the “best acting skills” they’ve seen.

One viewer joked that he looks like he’s “never been fed before,” while another offered to give him their entire meal. From canceled swims to skipped snacks, everything feels very serious when you’re Wally. Even if he doesn’t get a bite every time, he certainly wins the internet’s sympathy.
