How long does the heartache last?
I had to put my sweet dog of 12 years down 3 days ago and I still feel overwhelmed by sadness. I know that the length of grieving varies by individual, but how long does the intensely sorrowful part last? I can't think of anything else and just feel unbelievably sad.
Thank you

Ways to deal with a loss
A friend of mine lost her beloved animal a few months ago and every time I think about her loss it makes me tear. A few days after her dog, Zion, passed, she created a site dedicated to him and the life he had with her. What she created was her way of dealing with the pain she felt. I hope this can inspire anyone else to create and share.

15 Year old Lab, my buddy
I had to put my 15 year old lab down this past Friday and I am having a horrible time getting over the loss. He was not sick, he showed no signs of his life coming to an end any time soon and as a matter of fact, we had a great day the Thursday before. He simply woke up Friday morning, stretched, had a seizure and that was it. He collapsed in my bedroom and could not move anymore. We took him to the vet and the... (continued)

Sway Love: Turning Grief into Hope and Inspiration
I have not been able to read through the entire article. It touches my heart in the most tender of places. I got my two kitties 7 yrs ago, just after losing my husband to cancer. They saw me through 7 yrs of heart wrenching grief and loved me and filled my life with hope and joy. Other than being my very best friends, family and caretakers, they were born on the very day my husband died. They seem to know that... (continued)

Sway Love: Turning Grief into Hope and Inspiration
I am a pet owner...although I have never owed a pit my granddaughter was who introduced me to them. I have owned several different types of dogs, poodles, Irish Setters, Golden Retiever, and Labs. They all hold a special place in my heart but I have never met a more sweet and honest dog as the pitbull.
I will probably never own one because my husband would not allow but I am a pitty advocate and will do a lot to help out the breed. Thank you for sharing your story and being a true spirit

My baby girl is gone. She was an 11 year old Chocolate Lab
I had my baby girl since she was a puppy. She was my rock. She was the only stability in my life. I would have conversations with her and I swear she would understand. She was my family. When she was 9 she had gotten sick and she had surgery. They removed a 3 1/2 pound tumor and her spleen. It came back cancerous and they gave her maybe six months to live. Well she ended up living two more years. She loved... (continued)

Suggestions on a creative but appropriate urn?
I had to put my dog down a few years ago and have kept the ashes thinking that one day I would find the perfect container to put them in. I still haven't found one...I want something nice that I can keep near by. Any ideas?
