Akita, Doberman, or German Shepherd?
I am in the later part of my research phase of selecting a breed. I have done a lot of reading on the breeds of interest and I plan on spending time with each breed
I am 29 male and we owned a male german shepard throughout my childhood years and several of my family members had these wonderful dogs as well. He was an "outside" dog as my mother is afraid of dogs. The dog I get will be an "inside" dog.

extreme heat affects on german shepherds
I have a 9 yr old f/ german shepherd that doesn't seem to be doing well with our extreme heat here in the midwest. The last 2 weeks have been absolutely brutal and she seems to be panting constantly and laboring to breathe she only wants to go outside and do her business and come right back in, even though we've set the thermostat to 68 and we're freezing it doesn't seem to be helping . She's not over weight. We don't know what to think any advice.Going to call the vet on Monday. Thanks

I have a 1 yr. old GS and he has been diagnosed with panosteitis. He was limbing. The vet took x-rays and put him on pain pills. He has had it now for 3 mos. The vet said he would grow out of it ans to keep him calm not alot of walking etc.. He said it has to heal itself. Has anyone ever heard of it. He said it is common with GS.

Puppy afraid of cats
My 5 1/2 month old GSD puppy, Oskar, is well socialized with dogs and people, but I haven't socialized him with cats. I thought he would be dangerous around cats because he always tries to chase them; but then when one stood it's ground and started hissing, he got scared. I'm just curious, is this normal, or does it point to possible temperament issues?

Ears won't stand up
Our 4 1/2 month old GSD pup, Oskar, has ears that won't stand up. Actually one ear is completely limp (falls to the side) and the other is usually up, but it will wobble when he runs. I saw one of his siblings and both of his parents and they all have perfect ears. Should I wait for his ears to stand up on their own or should I try taping them up/gluing them?
