Service Dogs: To pet or not to pet
It is up to a church whether or not to allow a service dog, and service dogs are not permitted in certain areas of a hospital, for example, operating rooms and intensive care.

It is very thoughtful of you to make a list in alphabetical order. Most of the tops read so far are just copying the list of top dogs, whether they are intelligent or not. For the majority of dog owners these tops don't count much but for those that have no clue, it might be a starting point for a change, as getting a dog, so this list is good to use.

Ortolani is a "low-life" and he dose NOT deserve Missy back. To take your pet on a hike he knew was too hard for a dog is bad enough but that to leave her up on that mountain scared and alone to strave to death is the worst form of animal cruelty. Missy deserves much better than that and SHE SHOULD NOT EVER be given back to Ortolani. Missy needs to be in a loving home where she will be properly cared for and loved - not abandoned and forgotten about.

Missy STOPPED being Anthony Ortalani's dog the SECOND he turned his back on her. Missy would probably be glad to see him as she has no idea he BETRAYED her, because our pets give us unconditional love. And they deserve to receive it.
Scott and Amanda Washburn, hikers that formed the rescue party, wants to take Missy home, and they should be allowed. If a person throws something away, like Anthony Ortalani did, then finders' keepers. Case closed!

I would have to say I pretty much agree with what everyone has said here. First of all, I wouldn't have subjected my dog to that if it was deemed too difficult for dogs. But in the event my dog ended up on that mountain, I too would have moved heaven, earth and mountains to get my dog home. Had that been my dog, I would have moved heaven, earth and yes mountains to retrieve my dog alive or dead. The so called owner needs to be charged with neglect and abandonment no question about it. The dog should be allowed to be adopted by the people who risked their own lives to help this desperate dog. Abandonment!.....Neglect!....Yes...He should be charged with animal cruelty....and perhaps he should surrender his dog to the wonderful people who saved him.....and then he should suffer injury at the hands of others and be abandoned on a mountain for a week with no food and water.....Yup....that sounds about right!

I don't think that an ear crop, done by a veterinarian, under anesthesia, as a young puppy, with proper after-care is any more painful than the repeated ear infections that drop-ear dogs frequently suffer from, or the hematomas that are also common with drop ears.
