An Instagram video from @itslifewithshepherds shows two German Shepherds, Lucy and Charlie, following what the creator calls their official daily duties with the family’s toddler — and it plays like a workplace training video. In this case, however, the office is a playroom, and the manager is a tiny kid with lots to do.
Owner reveals dog’s ‘to-do list’ for little girl for a whole day
The video’s on-screen caption says, “My dogs official ‘to-do’ list for the day.” From there, the video breaks the day into steps, and first up is “Get a debrief from the tiny CEO,” which involves one of the German Shepherds sitting nearby as the toddler flips through a book.
Then, the next task is to “Approve the new building materials,” which entails the toddler standing near a shelf of toys and books, holding up an item for inspection as one of the dogs sniffs, as if a stamp of approval is needed before a construction job begins.
Following this, one of the dogs is shown getting “paid for emotional labour.” As the toddler eats, she drops bits of food to the floor, and the dog handles cleanup with the speed and dedication of an employee who wants to impress their boss. Finally, the shift ends with, “Check out for the day,” showing one of the dogs finally resting.
The caption under the video jokes, “Employee of the month, every single month. The job is tough, but there are some great perks!”
Commenters on the video called it “a tough gig,” crowned the toddler the “Tiny CEO,” and said it was “the most important job,” with one viewer writing, “We should go to that house. The dog looks actually pretty kind.”
These dogs may not get a paycheck for their day job, but the perks of working with the little girl seem pretty solid.
