Abandoned Pit Bull And His Metal Bucket Go Viral [UPDATED]

When Slim was found in an abandoned house almost a year ago, he was emaciated and afraid. Since then, the four-year-old Pit Bull mix has spent a lot of time coming out of his shell to the staff of Ashland County Dog Shelter in Ohio, and he’s made one unusual new friend: a metal bucket.

Slim is a strong pup, and he tears through toys pretty quickly. He’s also very anxious in the shelter and doesn’t have good leash manners, so having other dog buddies is difficult. But he’s found the perfect comfort item in his metal bucket, which he can play with without fear of destroying. The Rescue Me Ohio Facebook page says that Slim is lost without his bucket.

A heartbreaking image of Slim and his bucket is going viral now, but Slim still needs a forever home. He’s up for adoption and will need a family that can continue to work on the training and manners he’s learned in the shelter, and the bucket might have to come along as a package deal. Slim already neutered, up-to-date on shots, and heartworm free. He’s very sweet with people and is a gentleman when waiting for treats. And if he’s this affectionate for a bucket, just imagine how much love he has to give to a new forever family!

Please share his story as part of National Adopt A Shelter Dog Month and Pit Bull Awareness Month.

UPDATE: As of 10/11/16

I spoke with a representative of Rescue Me Ohio on Facebook. I was told that Slim did find a home with someone who was sensitive to and could handle his needs and they haven’t had any updates since he went to that new home. So let’s hope it’s working out well. Many people said prayers for Slim. Keep him and all homeless dogs in your thoughts.
