5 Dog Friendly Spring Vacation Ideas

Spring is here, and if you’re lucky, you are in the midst of planning a well-deserved spring break trip or vacation of some sort. When making travel arrangements, don’t forget your furry companion that snuggled and kept you warm through some of the harshest winter nights! Here are five pet-friendly destinations for your spring break.

For the Beach Bums – Key West, Florida

Looking for a lazy beach vacay that your pup can enjoy, too? Key West is a great place to soak up some rays and have some off-leash fun in the sun at Higgs Dog Beach. After your dog gets nice and sandy, feel free to enjoy a drink at Louie’s Backyard, which is more than accommodating for you and your sand and saltwater-drenched dog.

For the Hiking Junkies – Lake Placid, New York

All the way up in the Adirondacks, Lake Placid is a dream vacation for people with adventurous pups. The woodsy destination is great all year round, but has a crisp and refreshing feel during the spring. Take your dog on a three-mile hiking trail around Mirror Lake or to the doggie beach. Make you’re your pup is up to date on his flea and tick meds when you’re going into the woods.

For the Glamorous Type – Los Angeles, CA

Does your dog like sunshine, convertibles, mountains, beaches and pet friendly bars, restaurants and hotels? Los Angeles could be the destination for you. In a city where dogs are treated better than some children, there will be plenty for you and your pup to do; whether it’s going to a dog beach or park, hiking through Malibu, or grabbing a drink at one of the many dog friendly patio bars like The Oinkster, Golden Road Brewing, or Angel City Brewery. You’ll be very popular as tourists and celebs stop to pet your pooch as you sip on delicious cocktails and taken in that “fabulous” vibe.

For the History Buff – Alexandria, VA

Where else can you and your K-9 companion walk on the very streets that George Washington himself walked? Nowhere! Soak up American history as you cruise around Alexandria. Dogs on a leash are welcome to join on a historic waking tour with Alexandria’s Footsteps of the Past Walking Tours.

For the Nature Lovers – Seattle, WA
