Pet Supplies Plus: Has the Dog Food Brand Issued a Recall in 2024?

In recent years, multiple dog food brands have faced recalls, stirring worries about pet food safety. Amidst the spotlight on voluntary recalls in 2024 due to contamination concerns, prominent brands have received notable media attention. It’s natural to wonder about Pet Supplies Plus’ dog food recall history. Here’s what you need to know.

Has Pet Supplies Plus recalled its dog food in 2024?

Here’s some good news for dog parents. Pet Supplies Plus hasn’t recalled their dog food in 2024. Moreover, there are no reports of dogs falling ill after consuming their recent products. Thus, you can relax if you’re feeding your pet from this trusted brand.

However, keep in mind that not all recalls get widespread attention. Check the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website for the latest updates.

When was the last Pet Supplies Plus dog food recall?

Pet Supplies Plus initiated a voluntary dog food recall via an FDA notice on July 3, 2019. They recalled bulk pig ear products distributed to all locations and vendors in response to potential Salmonella contamination.

Therefore, the recall targeted bulk pig ears sold in open bins across multiple states, including AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, and WV. This voluntary recall does not extend to prepackaged branded pig ears.

Salmonella poses a threat to animals consuming contaminated products. Additionally, humans are at risk if they handle such pet items without washing their hands thoroughly afterward. This risk increases if individuals fail to sanitize surfaces that have come into contact with the contaminated products.

Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning in dogs may include lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Hence, if your pet has ingested a recalled product, seek veterinary care promptly.
