Shelter Dog May Have a Big Body, but He Has an Even ‘Bigger Soft Side’ That Very Few Get To See

This seven-year-old Cane Corso came to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter as a stray and has now spent 48 days waiting there. In the video shared by @adopt_storm_and_friends, the shelter dog is sleeping in his kennel. He looks toward the volunteer when he whistles at him, while other dogs continue to bark nearby.

The dog arrived severely underweight, has had benign growths removed, and still needs care for his ears. Yet the shelter describes him as affectionate and people-loving. This shelter dog deserves a chance to recover somewhere outside a kennel.

Shelter dog needs care out of the kennel walls and is waiting for a home to heal

Tiny starts out curled up on a blanket inside his kennel. Other dogs can be heard barking nearby, but he stays quiet until the volunteer whistles for him. He lifts his head and looks toward her with the saddest eyes.

Tiny is a seven-year-old Cane Corso who loves being around people, especially when there are butt scratches involved. He knows “sit” and “paw”, walks nicely on leash, and enjoys simply sitting beside someone. His stay at the shelter, though, has been much harder.

The big dog arrived as a stray and was severely underweight. He has since had benign growths removed and still needs continued care for his ears. The shelter says he is under-socialized with other dogs and would currently do best as the only dog in a home. He is good with older children, while questions about cats can be discussed with the adoption team.

The post says Tiny has now spent 48 days in his kennel and should not have to recover from everything he has been through behind a kennel door. That is what makes the opening shot so difficult. Tiny is not acting out or demanding attention. He is simply lying there, waiting.

The video has received more than 2,600 likes at the time of writing, with viewers hoping someone nearby will step forward. One commenter pointed out that 48 days is a long time for a senior dog who came in already needing care. The shelter is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for him.
