Golden Retriever & Dachshund’s ‘Office Romance’ Starts Slow, Then Takes a Turn

Some office friendships take a little time to get going, and this one starts with one dog doing all the work. Jip, a tiny Dachshund, is perfectly happy on her bed when Berry, a much bigger Golden Retriever, decides to see if she might be interested in making a new friend. The video shared by @jip.the.wiener catches their office romance from the very beginning, complete with cautious looks and a few false starts. Jip doesn’t exactly rush to say yes, either, which only makes Berry’s gentle approach even sweeter.

Berry walks straight over to Jip’s bed and settles down in front of her, ready to hang out. Jip simply watches him. No big reaction, no immediate invitation to stay. Just a very serious little evaluation. Berry seems to get the message and gives her some space, turning his body away instead of crowding her.

When Jip eventually leaves her bed, the introduction still isn’t quite settled. She keeps an eye on him from a distance, while Berry lowers himself to the floor and slowly crawls toward her. That gets Jip’s attention. A few careful steps later, the two are much closer. Then Berry starts grooming Jip’s ears, and his sheepish look toward the camera is pretty funny. Jip clearly approves, because she soon throws herself at him, asking him to continue.

The two start playing beside Jip’s bed, with Berry picking up a toy and holding it up high enough to get her attention. Jip comes charging back to claim it, putting herself right between Berry and the toy as if there was never any question about who it belonged to.

Soon they’re rolling around together, and Jip even runs up to a lying-down Berry and launches herself at him. Through it all, the bigger dog stays gentle, letting the much smaller Dachshund set the pace.

Viewers loved the pairing, with one jokingly calling them “Weintriever” and another simply saying, “I ship them.” After 10.6K likes, this office romance clearly has plenty of supporters.
