Apollo had already learned to live on three legs. Swimming was the one thing he still wasn’t sure about. His right forelimb had been amputated last year due to osteosarcoma, but that didn’t slow him down. And this day it was about getting back in the pool. In the video shared by @wickeroctopus, the tripod dog stands at the edge of the pool, wanting to dive in but stopping himself every time he gets close. It isn’t until his German Shorthaired Pointer brother shows him exactly what to do that something finally clicks.

Apollo carefully places one paw into the pool while keeping the rest of himself close to solid ground, almost like he’s keeping an escape route open. His dad is already in the water, gently asking if he wants a hand. Apollo sniffs his outstretched arm but can’t quite commit yet. As his owner moves closer to help, his whole body starts trembling. It’s obvious he wants to try, but fear keeps winning.

Then Pepper decides to step in. Apollo’s four-legged brother walks over, hops into the pool without a second thought, paddles around for a quick lap, and climbs back out again. It almost feels like a live demonstration. Pepper waits nearby as if to say, “See? You’ve got this.” That little bit of encouragement is all the tripod dog needed.
