Golden Retriever Thinks Mom’s Leaving Him Behind, Then Realizes He’s Going Surfing Too

Chili the Golden Retriever thought he was about to miss all the fun. When his owner picked up a wakeboard and headed to the lake, the pup seemed to wish her well before realizing he wasn’t getting left behind. The adorable video captured Chili’s quick change in emotions. He went from thinking his owner was leaving without him to happily riding the waves by her side, once again showing why fans call him the king of wake surfing.

The clip opens with the Golden Retriever sitting patiently outside as text jokingly imagines him saying, “Have fun surfing, Mom.” His owner walks toward the lake, carrying her wakeboard, and playfully responds, “Thanks, you too!” Confused, Chili tilts his head before another caption appears: “Me too??”

The realization quickly sinks in that he isn’t being left behind after all. The next scenes show the Golden Retriever happily riding on the boat with his family, taking in the breeze while eagerly watching the water ahead. When it’s time to hit the lake, the dog wastes no time getting into position.

Wearing a blue life jacket, Chili confidently joins a wake surfer on the board as the boat pulls them across the lake. Standing calmly at the front of the board, the Golden Retriever appears completely at ease as it glides over. The pair ride together smoothly as Chili balances effortlessly. Moreover, he looks every bit like a seasoned pro rather than a first-time passenger.
