Most dogs head to the beach looking for sand, waves, and plenty of room to run. One Golden Retriever found all of that, along with an unexpected feathered companion. A video shared online shows the playful pup appearing to befriend a seagull in one of the sweetest moments from the outing.

According to the text displayed in the video, the unforgettable encounter happened when they took the puppy to the beach, and an unexpected playmate showed up. “I still smile every time I think about the day I took my puppy to the beach and a seagull decided to play with him. He had the time of his life chasing its shadow that day,” the onscreen text reads.

The video shows the Golden Retriever dashing across the beach while a seagull glides just above him. The enthusiastic pup keeps his attention fixed on the bird’s shadow as it moves across the sand. He eagerly follows it from one end of the beach to the other.

What makes the interaction especially charming is the seagull’s behavior. Rather than immediately flying away, it continues sweeping back and forth over the beach, staying close enough that it almost appears to be encouraging Chase to keep following along.

The owner shared more about the special outing in the video’s caption, revealing that it was the Golden Retriever’s first visit to Carmel Dog Beach, a place they personally love. “I’ll never forget the way he ran all around the beach that day chasing that seagull’s shadow, having the time of his life,” the caption reads.
