Rain has a way of changing the mood in the house, especially when one family member isn’t a fan of storms. A sweet video from @itslifewithshepherds shows a toddler noticing that something about her dog is off.
It only takes Mia a couple of seconds to clock it. She knows her pup is staring nervously at the rain, so she decides to do something about it. Without any prompting, Mia gives Lucy a kiss and settles in close. The German Shepherd immediately turns her head towards the little one, returning the affection with a few kisses of her own.
Toddler comforts dog who is afraid of the rain
The video opens with Lucy sitting beside Mia on the floor, her eyes fixed on the rain falling beyond the glass door. The on-screen text reads, “Watch the exact moment our daughter senses her dog is afraid of the rain.” Mia studies Lucy for a few quiet seconds before turning toward her and planting the gentlest little kiss on her face.
The response comes right away. Lucy immediately returns the affection with a few soft kisses of her own, almost as if she’s saying thank you. The whole moment lasts only a few seconds, but it’s hard to miss how comfortable they are with each other.
The little girl then reaches over to stroke Lucy while the German Shepherd keeps one eye on the storm outside. The on-screen text notes, “And just like that the storm wasn’t as scary,” and it’s easy to believe it. A little later, Mia curls up against Lucy’s side and stays there while the rain continues outside.
Anyone who’s seen Lucy and Mia before will probably recognize this kind of moment. They’ve previously melted hearts by reading books together, sticking side by side throughout the day, and proving time and again that they’re happiest as a team.
This video simply adds another chapter to that friendship. More than 1,000 people have already liked this video of a toddler and her dog, with one viewer writing, “They both think they’re literally sisters.”
