Human’s Heart Breaks for Shelter Dog Returned Again When She Thought She’d Found Her Forever

You’d never guess how many times Luna’s heart has been broken by the way she still walks over to greet people. Shared by @adoptmiamidogproject, this video features a sweet shelter dog named Luna who keeps getting returned by different humans. The American Bulldog was adopted once, then surrendered. She found another home, only to be left behind again when her family moved away. This is her third time back in a kennel, and she’s left wondering if the next home that she goes to will be her permanent one.

Shelter dog lies sad in her kennel after being returned, and humans can’t look away

The footage opens with Luna lying down listlessly on a dog bed inside her enclosure. She rests her head heavily, staring ahead with clear sadness while the camera zooms in on her face. Text on the screen breaks down her incredibly rough timeline. After an initial adoption in 2020, she went back to the facility in 2024. Another family chose her in 2025, but they moved away in February of 2026 and simply left her behind.

The video then cuts to the outdoor play area, where Luna walks around the concrete. She keeps looking toward the gates, scanning the area just in case her old family decides to drive up. Her signature American Bulldog underbite makes her look incredibly endearing even while she watches the parking lot. Pups of this breed love companionship deeply, which explains why she walks right over to the volunteer for reassurance. She sits there sweetly to receive head scratches.

It is heartbreaking to learn that she has spent four long months waiting for a friendly face. In the later video, we see Luna standing on her hind legs inside the kennel, looking out with pure hope.

Over a thousand online fans quickly liked the moving video post to help her find a real home. Viewers keep filling the comment section with prayers for the innocent soul. Luna is currently waiting at Miami-Dade Animal Services, and every human watching the clip hopes this beautiful shelter dog never gets returned to a facility again.
