Shelter Dog Who Is Just ‘Skin & Bones’ Got His Happy Ending, but Not for Long

The caregiver revealed that when Max first arrived at the shelter, he was severely underweight, weighing only 26 pounds. It is far below the ideal weight of 60 to 90 pounds for a three-year-old male German Shepherd mix. Although he was incredibly weak, Max never gave up and continued to show remarkable resilience.

Max was adopted fairly quickly. Hence, the volunteer kept all the videos she had filmed of him rather than posting them. However, just weeks later, he was surrendered to the shelter once again. Heartbreakingly, Max had now been abandoned not once, but twice. The volunteer shared how painful it has been to witness the pup being abandoned twice. She hopes that the next family will finally give him the love, warmth, and affection he truly deserves.

It is heartbreaking that Max was abandoned again. However, what matters most is that he eventually finds someone who will never give up on him. The sweet pup has since gained weight and now weighs 37 pounds. Although he is still underweight, he is doing much better than when he first arrived. According to the volunteer, Max is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loves being around people. Despite everything he has been through, he still gets excited for walks and soaks up every bit of attention he receives.
