Heartbroken Shelter Dog, Victim To Age-Old Stereotype, Just Wants To Be Loved

The best part of Blue Boy’s day isn’t getting outside. It’s finding someone who’ll sit with him for a while. Shared by @evelyn.garces._, this emotional video follows one volunteer’s afternoon with a shelter dog who seems to have given up on expecting much from the world. When he is outside his kennel, Blue Boy doesn’t spend his time chasing toys or exploring every corner of the play yard. Instead, the misunderstood Pit Bull stays close, happily enjoying every scratch and gentle pat he can get before it’s time to walk back to his kennel.

Shelter dog only wants love and waits for his forever family

The video begins with Blue Boy sitting sadly inside his kennel as on-screen text shares the heartbreaking reminder that even the best dogs can end up in a shelter with a euthanasia deadline. A little later, volunteer Evelyn brings him outside, and almost immediately, a different side of him appears.

Here, Blue Boy settles beside her on the grass, wearing an adorable sun hat. As she pets him, he stays close the entire time, perfectly happy just soaking up the affection. The video explains that he isn’t interested in running around. He simply wants to feel loved again, even if it’s only for a little while.

Later, the shelter dog returns to his kennel, quietly watching people walk past without stopping. Another message points out that Blue Boy doesn’t understand why no one comes over to meet him. One especially close shot through the kennel mesh shows him looking up with cute but curious eyes. And then the video addresses the stereotype that follows so many Pit Bulls through shelters.

The caption adds even more about his story, explaining that Blue Boy is four years old, weighs 83 pounds, does well with calm dogs, and has already been cleared for euthanasia. Even so, Evelyn writes that meeting him changed every expectation she had because all he wanted was human affection.

The video has drawn more than a thousand likes, with viewers calling him “the sweetest boy” and hoping the right family finds him in time.
