Four years is a long time to share life with someone, which makes it especially hard to imagine Luna suddenly waking up in a completely unfamiliar place. That’s exactly the story shared by @humanebroward, where six-year-old Luna steals everyone’s attention without doing much at all. The shelter dog’s previous owner suddenly decided there was simply no more time left in the day for her.
Instead, Luna found herself settling into life at a Florida facility, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Shelter life clearly wasn’t what Luna wanted, yet she still greeted kind people with the same gentle, affectionate nature. As it turned out, the right family was already watching.
After shelter dog is surrendered by previous owner, internet helps her get adopted
The emotional clip begins with Luna sitting on her elevated cot while a sweet volunteer talks to her. When a second person approaches the glass door with a camera, the attentive shelter dog turns her head to look squarely at them. There are snacks on her bed, yet Luna barely glances at them. The attention matters much more.
Dogs with American Bulldog heritage often form really close bonds with their people, and Luna seems happiest when someone is simply sitting beside her. Soon, she’s leaning right into the volunteer, looking completely content just to be close to someone.
Plenty of people connected with Luna’s story. The post picked up more than 71,000 likes in just a few days. Viewers flooded the comments with intense frustration, noting that being busy is never a valid excuse to abandon a pet. Fortunately, the massive wave of online attention worked incredibly fast to change her luck. Her post eventually reached the family she’d been waiting for, and they wasted no time coming to meet her.
A special organization called Dolly’s Dream also stepped in by covering Luna’s adoption fee and sending her home with supplies to help her settle in. These days, Luna gets all the attention she kept asking for at the shelter, plus as many belly rubs as she’ll happily accept.
