Senior shelter dog gets a second chance after being surrendered by previous family
This Instagram reel of a shelter senior dog named Burke will make you believe in second chances. Uploaded on @sharing.lov, the clip shows a volunteer sharing a story of a 12-year-old “purebred German Shorthaired Pointer” pooch who was “surrendered because his family is moving and can’t take him.” And this left the volunteer heartbroken as “just two days ago, he had a home. A routine. Familiar faces. A bed to sleep in. Then, overnight, everything changed.” Thus, in the hope of finding a new home for the senior pooch, the volunteer shared the story online.
Speaking more about Burke, the volunteer mentioned that the pooch was “really scared and shaking at first” when they met him. However, the “confused” pup “quickly warmed up” to them and was “proud” to show his tricks. But what worried them the most was the “big lump on his side.” However, the “family reported it as a fatty tumor.” The other thing that worried the volunteers was that Burke’s “surrender paperwork states that he does not get along with other dogs or cats, which may make finding a home more difficult.” However, he “is reported to be good with children and housebroken.”
Hence, the volunteer urged people to help them find Burke “a soft bed. A quiet home. A family willing to love him through his golden years.” And it seems the people came together to help Burke find a home because, as per the update, Burke has been adopted by a “very nice family who had just lost their 14 years old GSP saw his video and came for his rescue!!.” The news made the nerizens happy as a person said, “Burke is SO handsome! Thank God he’s been adopted.”
