For most shelter dogs, a kennel is where they sleep. For Bob, it appears to be the only place where he feels secure. A video shared by a Miami-based animal advocacy account has brought attention to Bob, a shy shelter dog whose anxiety has become impossible to ignore. While many dogs eagerly rush outside for walks and playtime, Bob does the opposite. He briefly steps out of his kennel when necessary and then quickly retreats inside, seeking comfort in the small space that has become his refuge.
Shelter dog is so fearful he doesn’t stay outside of kennel for too long
The clip has struck a chord with animal lovers online, many of whom are now hoping someone will give the fearful pup the second chance he desperately needs. The video introduces Bob, identified as A2736215, sitting quietly in his kennel at Miami-Dade Animal Services. Text over the footage explains that Bob’s world has become painfully small. Although volunteers take him outside, he rarely remains away from the kennel for long. Instead, he appears eager to return to the confined space where he feels protected from the overwhelming shelter environment.
According to the rescue advocates sharing his story, Bob arrived at the shelter as a stray. Volunteers describe him as potty-trained and dog-friendly. They also note that he enjoys sitting quietly beside people once he feels comfortable.
Bob is a 45-pound neutered male who has been at the shelter since October 23, 2025. Volunteers stressed that they are only helping spread Bob’s story. They explained that anyone interested in adopting him must go through Miami-Dade Animal Services directly. The video was shared by Instagram account @hope4miamipaws, a page dedicated to increasing visibility for overlooked shelter dogs and helping them find homes.
The video quickly generated support from people who hope Bob finds a family soon. One person wrote, “Bob is the cutest! He is absolutely the sweetest once he warms up to you. We love you, Bob!” Another commenter shared, “He’s such a pretty poor baby.” A third viewer urged others to help, writing, “Please, someone step up and help save this precious dog. They don’t deserve to be here. They deserve a loving home. Please open your heart and your home and foster or adopt this precious dog.”
