A sudden downpour isn’t a big deal for an ordinary house pup. For Hachi, however, it presented an opportunity to experience something he had spent years waiting to. An emotional Instagram video uploaded by volunteer @stacifosters captures the sweet rescue dog celebrating his very first rainstorm.

The video actually starts with a quick throwback snippet of the rescue dog peering out from an elevated cage. Hachi barks loudly through the rusted wire fencing while his future savior records the heartbreaking scene. This was before he was rescued, and then the clip instantly cuts to the present day. Hachi bounds joyfully up and down a wet concrete driveway alongside his foster mom.
He tilts his head back and lets the fresh raindrops splash across his face. And he flashes the widest, happiest smile with his tongue lolling completely out the side of his mouth. He carefully navigates a set of outdoor stairs before dropping into another round of frantic bounces. This friendly rescue dog even pauses his dancing in the rain to hug Staci. It’s the sweetest scene.
This resilient breed mix clearly has a lot of love in his heart despite enduring a terrible hoarding environment. Rescuers recently saved him, along with five other canines, from neglect. Staci is currently trying to save Hachi’s white dog friend, who is still stuck on the property. But for now, this lucky pup is soaking up every single ounce of his new freedom. As Staci wrote, Hachi has become “extremely friendly, loving, playful and the list goes on.”
