Golden Retriever, Sad After Mom Leaves, Waits by Window Hoping She’d Come Back Home

Tracking the days on a calendar is impossible for pets, but they definitely feel when a separation lasts too long. A heartwarming video from @reefthegolden_ follows a Golden Retriever named Reef, who refused to leave the window for almost a week until his mom finally came home. This sweet Florida pup normally spends his days chasing tennis balls or enjoying boat rides. But he completely paused his regular routine to wait out his human’s absence. His spectacular full-body wiggles when she finally walks inside will absolutely brighten your afternoon.

Golden Retriever waits by window every day for mom and has sweet reaction when she’s home

The clip begins with Reef lounging on the couch when a sudden noise outside catches his attention. An inset photo shows how this devoted Golden Retriever spent the last week staring out the window, waiting for his mom to return. A voice behind the camera asks him, “who’s here?” prompting the pup to look around briefly. But he quickly loses hope, turning back to slump his heavy head onto the armrest of the sofa.

Then another question gets his attention. “Is it mom?” That changes things. Reef perks up his ears and lets out a tiny, hopeful bark. He suddenly leaps to his feet the exact second a key jingles in the front door lock. His tail starts wagging fast as his mom walks inside with her luggage. He stands all the way up on the backrest of the couch to deliver a big round of hugs and kisses.

The reunion quickly moves to the living room floor for a full-blown cuddle session. Mom wraps him in an embrace, and Reef looks back at dad with pure joy. He even sprints off to grab his favorite toy to show off his excitement. The adorable moment pulled in over 1.5K likes in less than twenty-four hours.

His owner admitted online that she cannot stand being away from him and thinks about him constantly. Coming home to that level of lovable energy makes dealing with travel completely worth the hassle.
