It’s utterly heartbreaking to watch a dog wait politely at a front door that isn’t actually his. Over on Instagram, Los Angeles volunteer Ella Hovsepian shared a bittersweet moment on her page @pupppstar. A sweet rescue dog named Baloo was heading back to his temporary foster home when a random door caught his eye. He paused at it, staring inside like he expected a long-lost family member to greet him. The internet is completely weeping over his hopeful little face, but thankfully, this story has the ultimate happy ending.

In the clip, Baloo stands directly on the porch of a house he does not actually know. This sweet rescue dog is traveling to his temporary foster home when he suddenly pauses at this strange door. He peers intently through the glass pane while wiggling his nose at the indoor sights. The pup watches the entryway hopefully, thinking this building might belong to a past family.
He spent six long years bouncing around the shelter system after three separate families gave him up. Bully breed dogs form incredibly deep bonds, explaining why he, perhaps, remembers the comfort of a home so vividly. Eventually, he realizes no one is opening up, glances at the camera, and slowly walks away.
Fortunately, this sad sidewalk pause was just a brief moment on his journey to a much better life. The emotional footage originally gained over 500 likes, but his recent happy ending is pulling in even more. Good Tails Rescue worked tirelessly to find him the perfect match. Just days before The Dodo featured his story, Baloo finally met his official forever mom. He even has his own Instagram page (@pupppbaloo) now under his new name, Enzo.
His new life comes fully loaded with a big private yard, homemade biscuits, and endless outdoor adventures. He no longer has to stand at strange entryways, wondering if he belongs inside.
