Big dogs often get stuck with unfair reputations. The larger the dog, the quicker people are to assume they are aggressive, distant, or impossible to approach. But as many pet owners will tell you, some of the softest personalities come wrapped in the biggest frames. A recent video shared on Instagram by @evermoreandsquad shows exactly that, as a “tough” Boxer slowly falls in love with an orphaned rescue puppy.

The video begins with the Boxer sitting quietly inside a crate while the tiny rescue puppy watches nearby. Text across the clip reads, “Watch my ‘tough’ boxer fall in love with an orphaned puppy.” At first glance, the larger dog appears distant and guarded, while the puppy cautiously studies him from outside the crate.
As the clip continues, those early moments slowly turn into trust and affection. The two dogs begin spending more time together, first through gentle interactions and later through playful moments around the home. Eventually, they were cuddling, following each other around, and resting side by side as if they had always belonged together.
The puppy, named Cici, survived difficult circumstances before finding her new companion. According to the owner, Cici’s mother was surrendered after suffering through labor. Shelter staff performed an emergency C-section in an attempt to save her and the puppies. Unfortunately, the mother dog did not survive. Out of the litter, only three puppies made it through, with Cici being one of them.
The owner explained that they and the Boxer, Dunder, drove nearly three hours to help transport the surviving puppies to their foster home. At the time, Cici was only six days old and “small enough to fit in the palm of a hand.” Even then, Dunder appeared drawn to her.
While driving home, the owner recalled that the Boxer gently leaned over toward the tiny puppy, touched noses with her, and gave her a soft lick. Although Dunder did not officially spend time with Cici until she became older and stronger, the owner said he showed patience and gentleness right from the beginning.
Nearly two years later, the pair now appear inseparable. The once “tough” Boxer has become a calm and protective companion to the dog he met as a newborn rescue puppy. “Some dogs are just meant to be together,” the owner writes.
