It is hard for a dog to resist a playful puppy, especially when the little one is as adorable as Cowboy. Rescue dog Cactus seems to have developed quite a soft spot for his new foster brother, but his excitement briefly got the better of him. While the two were playing on the couch, Cactus became a little too enthusiastic and accidentally sent Cowboy tumbling off. The moment that followed showed just how quickly the rescue dog realized he may have overdone it.
Rescue dog feels sad after foster puppy takes a little tumble due to his ‘cuteness aggression’
Cactus appears to be completely smitten with Cowboy, a foster puppy who recently joined the household. His owner, Mike Brown, decided to foster Cowboy and his mother, Honey, while Honey recovers, and Cactus has seemingly embraced the puppy as his new companion.
A video shared by @cactustherescue shows just how attached Cactus has become to the little dog. The pair are relaxing on the couch and playfully wrestling when Cactus gets particularly excited by Cowboy. At one point, the rescue dog gently mouths the puppy’s tiny face, seemingly unable to contain his excitement over how adorable he is.
Brown can be heard reacting to the interaction as the two continue playing. However, Cactus’ enthusiasm soon gets the better of him. After he playfully nibbles at Cowboy’s face, the puppy takes a little tumble and falls from the couch.
Brown immediately reminds Cactus that he needs to be gentle with the much smaller puppy. Cactus’ reaction makes it seem as though he understands that he may have gone a little too far. His expression changes after Cowboy’s tumble, giving the impression that the big dog is not particularly pleased with himself.
Fortunately, the moment does not end their playtime. Brown picks the puppy up and places him back on the couch, and the two dogs almost immediately resume their playful interaction. Their roughhousing continues as though the brief mishap never happened.
Viewers were amused by Cactus’ reaction and his apparent guilt after the puppy’s tumble. One person wrote, “The look on Cactus’ face when Cowboy yips in pain… you can see Cactus feels bad…” Another jokingly suggested, “cough foster fail cough cough”
Others compared the interaction to typical sibling behavior. One commenter said, “Cactus is just making him tough, just normal big brother behavior.” Another was already rooting for the puppy to stay, writing, “Cactus loves this puppy. You need to keep him.”
