This Golden Retriever is way too sleepy to keep holding a toy in his mouth, but he is certainly trying. In this video from the Instagram account, @wally.meets.world, Wally is parked on the couch next to the stairs, looking absolutely exhausted. And yet he seems very comfy for someone trying to balance on the armrest. Maybe it is the plush apple toy that he has tucked in his mouth that’s providing him with the comfort. He refuses to drop it, and it really is very funny to watch him fight sleep this way.
Golden Retriever wants to keep toy in his mouth despite feeling super ‘sleepy’
Wally sits there with his eyes doing that slow, heavy blink when a pup tries to fight a nap. And since this breed often treats carrying items like a full-time career, we can see him holding an apple plushie firmly in his mouth. Only the little green stem and leaf of the apple toy are visible to us. His dad, Tom, is hanging out on the steps right next to him and tells him he is definitely falling asleep.
Wally just continues to keep his eyes shut, as if he did not hear him. Jules, his mom, zooms in to capture that squishy, tired face for their 359k followers. And so the struggle gets real when Tom tries to gently take the toy so Wally can rest his jaw. The Golden Retriever isn’t having it at first. He opens his eyes for a quick side-eye toward the camera to see who is messing with his treasure.
He clearly wants the nap and the accessory at the same time. He eventually gives in to the sleep and lets it drop. Tom lets it fall to the floor so the pup knows his precious toy isn’t going anywhere.
The clip has already racked up 11.4k likes from fans who love his big, square, squishy head. One viewer joked that since grandma gave it to him, he cannot let go. Another person noted that “Goldens are so dramatic and adorable,” which sums up Wally perfectly. Honestly, one fan saying “I am shleep but I luv stuffy” is the best way to describe this whole scene.
