The day Hazel just had at @thatbrowndoghazel is basically perfect. This video shows her spending the whole afternoon swimming and catching sticks in a pond. This dog is just wandering through the rocks and is even eating bugs in the water. Moreover, she looks so happy doing it.
Her bio describes her as living her best retired life in Santa Barbara, and this clip is simply proof of that. Hazel’s owner says she spent a full three hours today just exploring. And if that doesn’t sound like an actual paradise for a Labrador, we don’t know what does.
Dog’s swimming video also shows her chasing sticks and catching bugs
The clip opens with Hazel already paddling through a pond. There are massive rocks everywhere, and as soon as she spots a stick in the water, she leaps at it. The dog grabs hold of the big stick and swims straight back toward the camera. Then her human flings another one of her favorite sticks into the shallow end, and she jumps into the air to catch it, making a huge splash when she plops back down.
However, she doesn’t even bring it back immediately. The Labrador Retriever just stands there chewing on it. Even when someone whistles for her attention, she is on her own schedule today. Later, the dog moves to the shallower part. We can only see her paws submerged in the water now, but she seems to be completely locked in on some bugs moving between two rocks. Her tail wags as she follows their movement with her head.
Someone in the comments called it her “classic chunky otter tail” that is in action. It really helps her navigate the pond. Then she heads into the deeper water again, but she is still intent on catching those bugs. The dog sees them and just goes for it. She starts chomping down on the water.
The sun is glistening off the water, and it really looks like a “Labrador utopia,” as a viewer called it. This post already has over 1.4k likes, as of the time of writing. One viewer mentioned they actually want to be Hazel. This video of her having a blast has everyone smiling. She clearly had the best time ever, and probably slept for ten hours straight after all that work.
