It turns out that turning older doesn’t actually do anything to slow down a dog’s absolute obsession with snacks, or cakes. Mason is a blind therapy dog over at @masontheblindgolden and he just turned the big 1-2. His humans made him a special cake for his birthday. And really he way too hyped for it. This Golden Retriever might be 12 but he still acts like a baby when treats appear. A new video shows the senior dog just waiting on the steps as people sing him a birthday song. He is just as his bio describes him, “heartbreakingly cute.”

The clip starts with him sitting patiently on the front steps next to his human. And then the singing begins. You can see that Mason just can’t handle the excitement as he starts trying to come down the stairs because he can smell that frosting. He even whines a little at one point, but his human has to pull him back up till the song finishes. So he sits down and then gets back up again. He can’t wait for the cake.
The video the cuts to the moment he finally gets to dig in. And he really tries to demolish the whole thing at once. One of the owners said he “almost inhaled a few treats right there.” But he eventually settles down to savor the flavor. He’s licking the smattering of treats on top and his little lip smacks are just the cutest thing ever.
He even takes a bone-shaped biscuit into his mouth for a second, before going back to taking big bites of the cake. No doubt, this senior dog really enjoyed his birthday treat in the video.
While he’s busy with his cake, his other human comes out for some pats, and then he gets lots of head scritches and love. This furbaby has over 60.7k followers who all sent him wishes. One fan mentioned that 12-year-olds never looked so good. Another person even said his fluffy soul makes them smile. It is just the most wholesome feeling to see a dog this loved.
