Video: Labrador Puppy Just Wanted to Nap in Owners’ Casserole Dish

A little Labrador puppy named Guster is winning hearts on the internet, and all it took was an adorable Instagram video from @gus.vaughn, in which he refuses to leave his owner’s empty casserole dish. From the looks of it, this pup does not need a plush bed. He just decided that an empty casserole dish was the right place for a nap — even if his owner resists and tries to get him out of there.

Labrador puppy is super comfortable in an empty casserole dish

In the video, the Labrador puppy curls himself into a white casserole dish under a table. It looks like he reserved it to stay away from chaos and rest peacefully, and he actually looks quite settled, with the video’s caption explaining, “He wanted to take a nap in our casserole dish.”

His owner soon finds him, and there goes the peace. But they do not use any force, and instead try coaxing the pup out of the casserole while sitting down on the floor to meet Guster there. However, the pup stays put, refusing to leave the dish.

When the puppy refuses to move, the owner pulls the dish closer and puts it onto his lap, essentially letting Guster stay there, without forcing him out. Only then does he carefully lift the pup out and set him down on the floor.

It might seem strange why Guster chose a casserole dish out of all things in the house, but tiny puppies often seek out small and snug spaces because they feel secure there. The gentle pressure around their bodies can calm them down, and the warm feeling can beat an open room when they want to take a nap.

In Guster’s mind, the casserole dish probably felt like a perfect little den, except it was a utensil. The Labrador puppy in this video may eventually outgrow the casserole dish phase, but if he wants to nap, it seems like he will make a bed out of anything.
