An adorable Instagram video from user @maizey_daze shows a Golden Retriever puppy who, if there is one hobby he has, is jailbreaking. Chuck, the puppy, tests the limits of his playpen, trying to escape it, with a couple of puppy siblings watching from inside, like they have seen this film before. The on-screen text says, “We finally caught Chuck escaping the playpen on camera.” And once you see it, you cannot really argue with the evidence.
Golden Retriever puppy executing the big escape in viral video
In the video, the Golden Retriever puppy starts with a careful climb, hooking his front paws over the top edge, and tries to pull his body up and over. Unfortunately, his first try does not go as planned — but it does not slow him down either.
In his second and final attempt, Chuck repositions and commits to the escapade. That time, he gets enough of his body over the edge to tip himself out and eventually tumbles down before he pops up and trots off like he is late for an important meeting.
In the caption, the owner jokes, “Chuck is our little escape artist ?,” and who can disagree with that?
The comment section reeked of a proud parent energy. Viewers called Chuck’s escape the “cutest breakout ever,” with others cracking up at “the determination & then the adorable puppy waddle.” Meanwhile, a third user explained the pup’s logic, writing, “He’s like it’s fine I’ll let myself out.” Another added, “Chuck wants to explore.”
And honestly, he might actually want to explore. Puppies explore because their brains and bodies run on curiosity, and if there is a Golden Retriever in the picture, you know they will follow their people like it is their job. So when a barrier stands between a pup and whatever makes them curious on the other side, some puppies like Chuck would want to get out of the play pen.
