Leia is just sitting on the couch in her home in Providence, looking completely blank while her throat makes noises like a farm animal. You could also call it snore-like, but it is hilarious because she is wide awake. Usually, you expect a dog to bark or whine for attention. But this Golden Retriever is just leaning against her mom and letting out these weirdly cute piggy sounds. You can see the whole interaction in the video over at @leia_the_goldenn. Her mouth is shut. Her eyes are open. She is just existing and snorting at the same time.

Leia’s mom is holding the phone up close, filming from the front camera. Leia’s head is resting comfortably while her paw gets gentle pats. Everything looks calm. And then it happens. Leia gulps once. Then comes a strange little grunt. What is even more funny is that Leia doesn’t even change her facial expression when she snorts. She looks straight into the camera. She gulps once, and then the noise starts up again. It sounds almost like a snore. But she isn’t even tired.
One time, she even blinks in sync with one of the grunts. “Her snorts are so funny lol,” her owner mentioned in the caption. The on-screen text even asks the question directly: “Anyone else’s Golden Retriever sound like a little piggy?” And honestly, once those piggy sounds start in the video, it’s impossible not to laugh at the sweet Golden Retriever.
Goldens have a whole range of huffs and groans that aren’t quite barks. Leia is definitely leaning into that trait here. She eventually lowers her gaze. But the sound is still there in her system.
Hundreds of people have already seen the clip, and they totally get it. “Every day, all day. We call them happy grunts,” one person commented. Another account for a dog named Holly just said, “Same fren same!” Leia’s mom doesn’t seem to mind the constant snorting either. She just keeps patting that paw.
