Video Shows Dog’s Contribution to the Fire Department

The sound starts way before you actually see the dog. It is that deep noise that only a massive Newfoundland can make. And Meredith Werne caught the whole performance on her phone. Cocoa has very strong, vocal opinions about local sirens. In the video, she is lying on the patio with her nose pointed at the sky, while you can faintly hear the sirens from the fire department. She is letting out a long “awoo” that sounds like she is clearing her throat. It matches the sirens perfectly. The caption says, “Cocoa is on duty with the fire department today! Ollie is on duty for Cocoa,” and honestly, that is accurate.

Cocoa waits for a second to catch her breath as the sirens get quieter. But then she goes again. Another long one. Her brother Ollie eventually wanders over to see what the fuss is about. He sniffs her snout to make sure she is actually fine. Mom tells him that his sister is just talking to her pack.

Once Ollie feels satisfied with the inspection, he decides to head back inside. It is obvious he wants to leave the vocal work to the professional. Cocoa has her quirks; people have seen her on video before doing some pretty clever things. She once moved a chair to climb onto the dining table just to get cozy. She has a real talent for finding the spotlight.

But in this video, the dog’s focus is entirely on the fire department truck in the distance. She keeps looking toward the road even after it’s quiet. “Her pack – the fire department!! I love it,” one fan commented on the post.

The clip has over 4,000 likes already. People are calling it a perfect howl. One viewer mentioned that they are glad their pet isn’t the only one who does this. Another suggested using the noise as a snack time alarm. It is definitely a loud way to live. But Newfoundlands are just built that way. They are big, and they have a lot to say.
