Labradors Fight Over Cuddle Time With Dad in Adorable Video

In an Instagram video from user @remi_and_walter, two English Labrador Retrievers named Remi and Walter fight over who gets to cuddle their dad, and it is equally hilarious and adorable. The dogs crowd onto a couch where their owner lies back, perhaps trying to relax. But he can say “goodbye” to peace with two affectionate dogs fighting for a seat on his lap, as the on-screen caption explains, “fighting over who gets to sit on dad’s lap.”

Labradors can’t decide who gets to sit on dad’s lap first

Remi and Walter put up a fight like two sibling rivals. In the video, the Labradors seem fully focused on who gets to cuddle dad, as they growl and “argue” with each other. One dog sits across his dad’s legs while the other tries to wedge in from the side. They bump shoulders and push for position. In fact, at one point in the footage, one of them stretches a paw across their dad as if to claim the spot, while the other barges with his nose, face-to-face, refusing to back down.

Dad keeps his hands on both of them, petting and steadying them without saying a word while they continue their cuddle competition.

The video labels the dramatic sequence as “part 2.” This is a nod to an earlier video in which the dogs ended up fully tangled together, fighting for the same goal. Now, viewers can’t get enough of their energy.

One viewer joked, “Thought this was 2 bears on nat geo,” while another warned, “Watch those paws Dad!” as the dogs’ legs flailed across his lap. A third user offered a solution to end the fight, suggesting, “Dad needs a bigger lap.” Meanwhile, one commenter noted as they joked, “Dad just layin’ there guarding them family pup cups.”

In the end, we don’t see Remi and Walter ever settling on a winner. They just keep negotiating the only way they know how — by climbing on dad at the same time and daring him to pick one of them to cuddle. A tough spot for dad, for sure.
