Golden Retriever Has Toddler & Mom Fighting Over Her Undivided Attention

Shared by @skylars.the.limit, this cute video begins with a Golden Retriever, a toddler, and mom accidentally finding themselves in a very funny disagreement over one important question: who gets to call Skylar “my dog”? The answer is anyone’s guess, but that doesn’t stop either side from making a very determined case. Skylar is clearly the winner here, as she has figured out the best part of the whole situation; she gets all the cuddles either way.

The video opens with mom walking into the living room to find little Shalom and Skylar lounging together on the couch. One is tucked beneath a cozy blanket while the other is happily snoozing on top of it. Feeling just a little left out, she laughs, “Are you guys cozying on the couch together?” Shalom answers with an adorable giggle before the conversation quickly takes a competitive turn.

“You stole my dog. Skylar’s my dog,” mom teases. Immediately, Shalom sits up, gives Skylar an affectionate pat, and confidently replies, “My dog.” From there, neither of them is willing to back down. Mom insists, “No, she’s my dog,” while Shalom keeps repeating, “My dog,” with all the determination a toddler can possibly manage. Skylar, meanwhile, stays nonchalant through the entire discussion, enjoying every head pat that comes her way.

At one point, Shalom decides it’s time for what mom jokingly calls a “little nap break.” Naturally, the debate picks right back up once he’s recharged. The back-and-forth continues with an endless chorus of “Mine!” as both reach over to shower Skylar with even more attention.

Eventually, mom gives in with a laugh before changing the question altogether. “We love Skylar, right?” she says, scratching beneath the sweet Golden Retriever’s chin while praising her for being such a good girl.

The final laugh comes when the camera pans over to Shalom, happily tapping away on a toy. Mom asks if he’s texting, while the on-screen caption jokes that he’s “texting his lawyer.” The video has already picked up more than 7,000 likes, and viewers couldn’t get enough of Skylar quietly enjoying every second of the attention.
