Hemi the Pit Bull is currently locked in a psychological war with a piece of recycling, and it’s honestly anyone’s guess who’s going to win. Over at @good_boihemi, this “baby” is proving that having a strong muscular body doesn’t make you immune to the terrifying sound of crinkling plastic. In a new video, he spots a water bottle sitting innocently on the coffee table and decides it needs to be dealt with immediately. He’s clearly a bit spooked, but he’s also not about to let an inanimate object have the last word.

It starts with a tentative sniff. But then the bottle falls over with a thud, and Hemi practically jumps out of his skin. The hair on his back literally stands up. And he just stares at it for a second like he’s waiting for it to strike back. Mom is just in the background, sounding totally resigned. She knows the “water bottle saga” is continuing, and there’s no stopping him once he’s focused.
He goes back in for a bite, and the crunching noise sends him into another little panic. But he’s stubborn. He keeps going back for more because the noise is scary, but apparently also his favorite thing ever, and he just can’t seem to decide if he wants to kill it or be its best friend while he drags it across the rug.
He finally builds up the courage to grab the thing and haul it off the table. And of course, he knocks over half the other stuff on the coffee table in the process. Total disaster! Then he flings the water bottle across the floor like it’s a live grenade. He’s backing up and then charging back in. It’s actually hilarious to watch.
Eventually, he decides he’s won the ground war and hops onto the couch with his prize. He’s just sitting there, getting comfortable with his “enemy” in his mouth, probably thinking he’s the toughest guy in the living room. That’s when Dad decides to kill the vibe. He peeks around the corner from the hallway and just calls out his name. Hemi freezes! He looks at Dad, water bottle still in his mouth. Then he looks straight ahead, pretending that if he doesn’t move, maybe he’s invisible.
